Palm Versamail Updater and the 755p

I ran the Palm “Centro” Versamail updater on my 755p and it ran just fine. I got the same “Build 77″ screen per the instructions.

What I didn’t get (maybe I did something wrong) is a Gmail/IMAP wizard.

I noticed IMAP and Gmail works (better than before the update). Versamail still doesn’t support “push” capability on my Sprint 755p so I will probably stick with Chattermail.

Kudos to Palm for actually updating their software in a reasonable time. But why not announce that this update worked with the 755p?

Chatteremail – HTML

I purchased Chatteremail for the Palm OS this weekend. Although I abhore the fact that I need to spend $30 to get Google IMAP on my phone… it needed to be done. POP3 stinks. I love sync’ed folders.

One tip I’ve noticed with Chatteremail and Google IMAP: set your “load” (or bytes downloaded) to be pretty large (mine is 25,000 bytes). If the setting is too small, HTML emails don’t work.

With a lower setting (5,000 bytes), even if I tell chatteremail to get “more” it stops at the first part of the HTML headers. I can’t read any of the message.

With a higher setting (25,000 bytes) I can actually read the message (without needing to click “more”) and I’m given a “browser” option that will open the email in Blazer.

I tried Treobble for my Palm 755p tonight. I must not be ready for the “touchscreen” navigation/revolution because I became quite frustrated with how slow it scrolled.
