Archaic programs like Lotus Notes
This made my day…
oDesk is a site where freelancers can bid on jobs. One job on the board is for someone to design an email announcement… inviting people to their events.
There’s a classic line in the job posting:
“We will launch the email announcement from a Gmail account, but it will ultimately reach email boxes powered by a wide array of programs, inlcuding archaic programs like Lotus Notes”
I guess Lotus Notes is archaic… does that make me old too?

I think the arcane part (in the non-corporate world) is the need for a desktop/client install. Now-a-days its web-client only. Outlook who ?

I disagree. People are in love with the fat client versions of their email.
Gmail is a classic example. Web mail is great for “chatting” through email. But for formatted responses and attachments… the client still wins.

I heard the same thing about Java a few years ago but it is still going strong.
